We've analyzed the 2017 short track data. It seems clear that a top 5 starting position and top 10 practice speed are indicative of a top 10 fantasy score. What does the data say about past races at Dover? Check the DFS NASCAR data below.

Fantasy NASCAR - Dover - Pre-Qualifying Guideline
Daily Fantasy NASCAR - Dover - Pre-Qualifying Guideline based on 2017 Short Track Research (check out the video on my YouTube page),
Based on 2017 short track trends, this is the daily fantasy NASCAR lineup construction that I am leaning towards for the Dover spring 2017 race. I'm not married to the idea of 3 top 5 starters. I can broaden this to top 10, if there is a hot driver within the top 10 or very warm driver with good track history (e,g. Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex, Jr., and Jimmie Johnson off the top of my head). That being said, I am fairly certain that I am locked in on 2 top 5 starters.
The outside the top 10 picks depend on qualifying. If someone fails tech or qualifies poorly, then lock them into your lineups. Even if they will not finish inside the top 10. If they can score +15 place differential points, then a top 10 is not necessary.
The punt is self explanatory. You need to pick the sub $6 driver that scores the most points and allows the salary relief to pick drivers starting inside the top 5. Generally speaking, there are two punts per race that finish with a top 20 score. You need the driver that scores the most, unless there is a large salary discrepancy ($5900 vs. $4900).
